Friday Finish: Scaredy Cat Quilt from Patchwork Sampler Blog

I worked on this right up until Monday, but was determined to finish it by Halloween–Halloween 2022! This quilt is from the Scaredy Cat quilt pattern by Jedi Craft Girl. I made the blocks last fall, but once Halloween was over it became a UFO and languished for about a year. The fabric is Moda’s Kitty Corn line by Urban Chiks and it is perfect for this quilt. I love the soft colors. They are not the screaming orange, green, and black you typically see for Halloween. The background is a coordinating Moda Grunge.

Wednesday WIP: Sampler Spree Week 5 from Patchwork Sampler Blog

There is still not a lot of sewing at my house right now, but it is fun piecing these few Sampler Spree blocks every week. For week 5, the color is red and ten blocks were assigned.

Here are my blocks.

week 5 sampler spree

When the color red popped up, I found I do not have a lot of red in my modern fabric stash. There is pink, fuchsia, and coral, but not much red. Luckily, I had enough to piece these blocks though. I also may have done a little stash enhancement shopping to correct this wrong!!

The week 6 color is ...

Friday Finish: The Violet Quilt from Patchwork Sampler Blog

Whew! It’s been a while since I’ve had a Friday finish. Honestly, I work best when I have a deadline. My small quilting group met via Zoom yesterday and I really wanted to have something to show. The Violet Quilt was a Quilt-A-Long from Kitchen Table Quilting. The top has been finished for a couple of months (at least!) and it has been on the frame awaiting quilting for a month.

With my deadline looming, I took TWO HOURS to quilt it. Haha! Yep, that’s all it took since I simply quilted straight horizontal lines.

Friday Finish: Link Up from Patchwork Sampler Blog

My four-week streak of having a Friday finish was in danger of being broken, but I got up this morning and finished hand stitching the binding on this quilt. Whew! It was a close one, but happily one more quilt in the FINISHED pile!! The pattern is Link Up from Villa Rosa. The pattern card is available here or the digital download is here.

The print fabrics are from the line A Blooming Bunch by Moda. These fabrics are so fun and cheerful. This quilt is perfect for spring! The green is a Bella solid called Pesto and the white ...

Friday Finish: January Stars from Patchwork Sampler Blog

January stars

Wow, my third Friday Finish post in a row! It is so nice to get a few things completed. This week I finished January Stars, so named because I started this quilt in January and I’m terrible at picking names.

January Stars is the second iteration of this quilt. This first one is pretty boring because I used boring scraps. Quilting will do wonders for this quilt, though, so eventually, it will be finished. It was way more fun to work with the happy, bright fabrics on gray winter days.

Going back even further, the quilt was inspired by ...

Friday Finish: Desert Peaks from Patchwork Sampler Blog

Desert Peaks quilt

This Desert Peaks quilt began back in 2017 on Sew a Jelly Roll Day. I like to hand stitch binding while watching TV in the evening and found this quilt all ready to go. I thought I would have my Ombre Stars ready to quilt but it is taking forever. There is a stash of quilts ready for binding so I always have something when I need a quick finish.

Desert Peaks closeup

The fabric is a Moda jelly roll from the “Desert Blooms” line by Sherry and Chelsi. The background is a Bella solid.

Friday Finish: The Neighborhood Quilt from Patchwork Sampler Blog

This week’s Friday Finish is The Neighborhood Quilt. This was a quick and easy quilt and I just love how it turned out. The pattern is “The Neighborhood” (of course!) by Villa Rosa Designs. You can find the pattern here and it is available as a pdf download or a little “Rose Card.”

The Neighborhood quilt

This pattern uses two charm packs plus background, border and binding fabrics. All of my fabric is from Moda’s Quotation line by Zen Chic. The fabrics I used are in my little Etsy shop here. The background, an off-white with gray and black dots is ...

Current WIP: Violet Quilt A Long from Patchwork Sampler Blog

Oh, how I love a quilt-a-long. Maybe it’s because I want to make every quilt in the world, maybe I need the motivation of a schedule or maybe it’s just FOMO, I have a hard time scrolling past a QAL. A few weeks ago, Erica Jackman of Kitchen Table Quilting announced the Violet Quilt as her next QAL. I wasn’t going to join, but remembered a bag of scraps that would be perfect for this quilt.

Scraps from Blush line of fabric

These fabrics are from the Basic Grey’s Blush line by Moda. The original quilt I made from this line was ...

Monday Motivation: Problem UFOs from Patchwork Sampler Blog

Every January, well really every January, February, March, April…., I decide to tackle my overwhelming UFO problem. This will never happen as long as I continue to start new projects faster than I finish old ones. Each month, though, I do try to finish at least one old project. In January, everything is a UFO because they were all started prior to 2021. Now it is February already and time to set some goals on what I want to accomplish this month. Both of these projects I consider problem UFOs.

This quilt has gone through several iterations. The center is ...
